David E. Tyson, B.A., B.A.S., CHRL, is President of Tyson & Associates Limited, a Toronto-based compensation firm specializing in compensation and related human resource services. He is the author of the books, Canadian Compensation Handbook, Best Practices: Communications Issues in Human Resources Management, Best Practices: Employee Retention and HR Manager's Guide to Profit Sharing in Canada. He is widely recognized as an expert in total rewards and human resource management having spoken at the Annual Conference of the Human Resources Professionals Association, the GTA Rewards Association Canadian Conference in 2012, and various chapters of HRPA. He has been featured in the Globe and Mail ROB as an expert on profit sharing and has written articles for a number of national publications including the Financial Post and CA Magazine.
He served as editor of the Compensation and Benefits Update, and Carswell's Compensation Guide and contributed a quarterly column on Total Rewards to CLV reports for five years.
Mr. Tyson is a graduate of York University with degrees in Political Science and Administrative Studies and obtained the Certified Human Resources Professional designation (CHRP) in 1989. In July 1983 Mr. Tyson formed the independent consulting firm of Tyson & Associates Limited. Prior to starting his consulting career with Price Waterhouse Associates he held a variety of human resource management positions with Rio Algom Limited, S.C. Johnson and Son (Johnson Wax), American Express and Inglis Limited.
Hugh Secord, B.A., M.B.A., CHRP, SHRP is Chief Strategist with Oakbridges Labour Relations Strategists Inc. Hugh has been a Human Resource Management and Labour Relations Consultant practicing throughout Canada with over 30 years of experience in virtually every industrial sector. He held several Chief Human Resources Officer (CHRO) positions before entering the consulting field in 2005. Hugh has acted as chief spokesman in over 130 collective agreements and has been involved in resolving hundreds of grievances and other employment disputes. He has proactively promoted alternative dispute resolution methods, and his innovative approaches led to one of the first evergreen ("no-strike") contracts in the private sector. Hugh is the author of several books on human resource management practices including Implementing Best Practices in Human Resources Management, Best Practices: Strategic Human Resources Management and HR Manager's Guide to Attendance Management, and has written over 250 articles on human resources and labour relations topics. In addition, he has taught Organizational Behaviour and Employment Law courses and has spoken on labour topics in various forums.
