About the Author
Richard Olson obtained his undergraduate degree and LL.B. at the University of British Columbia. In 1981-82 he clerked in the Supreme Court of British Columbia in Vancouver, then articled with Russell & DuMoulin and practised at that firm and its successor from his call to the bar in 1982 until 2002. He has practised as a commercial litigator primarily in real estate and banking matters, appearing in all levels of court in British Columbia and before the Property Assessment Appeal Board. Mr. Olson has written and lectured on commercial tenancies and other topics for clients and with the Continuing Legal Education Society of B.C. He is currently associate counsel at McKechnie & Company in Vancouver, a litigation boutique specializing in real estate and construction disputes, where he practises in the area of real estate and commercial tenancy litigation and sits as an arbitrator in commercial and real estate disputes. He has been appointed chair of the British Columbia Law Institute Commercial Tenancy Act Reform Project, and is the author of A Commercial Tenancy Handbook.
