About the Author
Deanna Exner, is Crown Counsel, Ministry of the Attorney General, Legal Services Branch for the Ministry of Health and Long-Term Care. Since 1989, she has prosecuted charges under the Occupational Health and Safety Act (OHSA) and the Employment Standards Act (ESA), as well as representing the Ministry of Labour at inquests and before various tribunals under the OHSA and the ESA. As a former Assistant Crown Attorney, she also prosecuted offences under the Criminal Code. Ms. Exner participates in the training of health and safety inspectors, and she speaks at continuing legal education seminars and at health and safety conferences.

Catherine Glaister

Jeremy Warning is a former prosecutor with the Ontario Ministry of Labour. He now practises in the Labour and Employment Law group of Mathews, Dinsdale & Clark LLP in Toronto where he is a member of the firm's National OHS & Workers' Compensation Practice Group. Mr. Warning provides strategic and practical advice on a full range of labour and employment matters with a particular specialty in delivering proactive advice and strategies during regulatory inspections or following workplace accidents. He also advocates for the firm's clients before the provincial and federal courts, administrative tribunals and boards of arbitration.
