About the Author
Cynthia L. Elderkin is a senior commercial lawyer in the Ottawa office of Gowling WLG. With over 25 years' experience, Cyndy's practice is focused on transactions, commercial agreements, financings and contracts (consumer and business). Speciality areas include transportation, aviation (acquisitions, leasing, financing, maintenance, repair and operation, charters and FBO services), outsourcing, fiber optics, manufacturing and supply, joint ventures, teaming and procurement agreements.
Julia S. Shin Doi, BA, JD, LLM, practises corporate/commercial law and intellectual property law in the Office of the Counsel at York University. She specializes in the commercialization of intellectual property. Ms. Shin Doi is an Adjunct Professor at Osgoode Hall Law School of York University where she teaches Legal Drafting. She also teaches legal practice skills as Director of the Osgoode Business Clinic and has served as Assistant Director of the Osgoode Hall Law School Part-time LL.M. in Business Law. Ms. Shin Doi has taught Corporate Law for the University of Ottawa and Institute of Law Clerks of Ontario, and Business Law and Business Law Skills for The Law Society of Upper Canada, Bar Admission Course. She has participated in numerous panels on commercial law related topics and made several presentations on commercial legal drafting to businesses, professional organizations and the law firm of Gowling WLG where she was a member of the Business Law Group.
