About the Author
George N. Addy, B.A., LL.B currently heads the Competition and Foreign Investment Law Group at Davies Ward Phillips & Vineberg LLP. Building on his experience as a former head of the Canadian Competition Bureau (where he was responsible for enforcing the Competition Act and initiating and implementing legislative and policy review of the statute) and a senior executive with TELUSCorporation, he assists domestic and foreign clients in all aspects of competition/antitrust law matters and Investment Canada matters. He is a director of the Canadian Chamber of Commerce (Chairman, Policy Committee) and was a member of the Management Board of the Business and Industry Advisory Committee at the OECD. Mr. Addy is a frequent speaker on competition law matters in Canada and abroad.
William M. Vanveen, B.A., LL .B., B.C.L. (Oxon.) is Co-chair of the Competition Law Practice Group at Gowling WLG and a recognized practitioner in the field of competition law, covering all aspects of this field including civil competition law matters, including litigation for Hoffmann-La Roche, Eli Lilly, and Coca-Cola. He is a partner in the Ottawa office of Gowling WLG. Prior to joining Gowling WLG, Mr. Vanveen was an Assistant Professor of Law at the University of Windsor's Faculty of Law. He has also been a sessional lecturer on competition law at Queen's University, Faculty of Law and a frequent speaker on competition law subjects.
