About the Author

Brian Ward is a retired Toronto Police Service Staff Sergeant. He began his working life as a newspaper reporter and photographer before moving into a 32-year career with law enforcement where his main focus was in forensic identification. He has taught law enforcement topics at several local colleges and is now the president of Ward Forensic Associates.

Mark Heerema lives and works in Halifax, Nova Scotia as a Crown Attorney with the Special Prosecutions Section of the Nova Scotia Public Prosecution Service. As a Crown Attorney, Mark is routinely involved in the prosecution of criminal cases that rely heavily upon forensic evidence. In addition to prosecuting, Mark has been a part-time lecturer at the Dalhousie Schullich School of Law as well as a presenter to police recruits. Mark Heerema received his Bachelor of Laws from Dalhousie University and his Masters of Laws at the University of Cambridge where he attended as a Rt. Hon. Paul Martin Scholar.
