About the Author

Derek McKay is a member of the Rules Secretariat of the Ontario Civil Rules Committee.  He is also Of Counsel at Roy O’Connor LLP, Barristers, where his work focuses on research and written advocacy, primarily in the areas of class proceedings, complex commercial litigation and appellate advocacy.

Michael McGowan is Counsel at Theall Group LLP where he focuses on Class Action Litigation. Michael has been editor-in-chief of Carswell Practice Cases since 1984. From 1992 to 1995 Michael served on the Class Proceedings Committee established under the Law Society Act, initially as Vice-Chair and subsequently as Chair.
