Whats New in This Edition:

Discussion of updating workplace impairment policies, in relation to the legalization of recreational cannabis in late 2018. Review of training requirements for health and safety committee members and health and safety representatives. Review of the OH&S legislative framework in Alberta, including significant modernization and changes to the OH&S Act, Regulation and Code that came into force in mid-2018, including important requirements relating to written OH&S programs, joint work site health and safety committees, provisions on the reporting of serious incidents and potentially serious incidents, the right to refuse dangerous work and a prohibition on discriminatory action, the requirement to develop violence and harassment prevention plans, requirements to provide workers with readily available OH&S information and an employers duty to provide a written report on steps taken to comply with an order.
