Details and specs

Burshtein The Law of The Sharing Economy addresses the emerging legal issues in Canada, the United States, other English law jurisdictions, Europe, and elsewhere, relating to the increasingly important sharing economy. Although the book deals with all relevant industries, most of the law has developed in the context of accommodation-sharing platforms like AIRBNB, ride-sharing platforms such as UBER and LYFT, and vehicle-sharing platforms like TURO.

Examples of the numerous subjects addressed are:

  • Legal and regulatory challenges faced by operators of platforms that seek to upend existing industries and their regulatory models
  • Classification and other legal treatment of workers in the sharing economy
  • Industry specific regulatory challenges and developments to each type of industry
  • Competition, privacy, and other regulatory issues
  • Tort and criminal liability issues
  • Contractual, intellectual property, and technology issues

In all cases, the different approaches to issues addressed by multiple jurisdictions are considered.
