The 2022-2023 edition continues to reflect Ontario’s response to the COVID-19 pandemic, including ESA Ontario’s promulgation of Infectious Disease Emergency Leave (IDEL) regulations and the enactment of s. 50.1 and 50.1.1 of the Employment Standards Act (ESA) regarding a temporary entitlement (until July 2022) to paid leave and employers’ opportunity to apply to the Workplace Safety and Insurance Board for reimbursement of certain payments. It also reflects changes introduced with December 2021 promulgation of the Working for Workers Act, 2021. Part VII.0.1 of the Act newly requires employers with more than 25 employees to establish a written policy on employees’ rights to disconnect from work.
