About the Author
The late James M. Flaherty served as Canada's Minister of Finance from 2006 to 2014. He was a founding partner of Flaherty Dow Elliott & McCarthy where he practised as a trial lawyer in insurance litigation for 20 years before becoming a Member of the Provincial Parliament. In 1989, the Law Society of Upper Canada certified him as a specialist in civil litigation.
Catherine H. Zingg B.A., LL.B., practices insurance law with Flaherty Dow Elliott & McCarthy. She is a past Chair of the Bar Dispute Resolution Group Forum at the Financial Services Commission of Ontario and was a Member of the Minister's Committee on the Designated Assessment Centre System. Ms. Zingg has served on the executive of the Young Lawyer's and Civil Litigation sections of the Canadian Bar Association of Ontario and as Secretary and Treasurer of the Womens' Law Association of Ontario. She has participated as a Bar Admission instructor in civil litigation.
