About the Author
Robert H. Barrigar, Q.C., has practised exclusively in the areas of patent, trademark and other branches of intellectual property law, including related litigation. As a registered patent and trademark agent and a leading counsel in intellectual property trials, Mr. Barrigar's practice has covered the full spectrum. He has been a leading contributor to legal education in his area of expertise and he has been retained by the Government of Canada as special counsel on legislative reform. He is a former President of the Intellectual Property Institute of Canada and of the International Federation of Intellectual Property Attorneys, Canadian section. Mr. Barrigar has published and lectured extensively on patent law, and has chaired a number of professional committees on intellectual property law. He has also served on the Faculty of Law at the University of British Columbia and the University of Victoria.
Andrew Shaughnessy is a partner at Torys LLP. His Practice focuses on IP litigation and dispute resolution, and Federal Court practice. He has represented a wide variety of clients in complex patent and trademark infringement and related litigation. Serves as one of the Canadian Bar Association's Intellectual Property section representatives on the Federal Court IP Users' Committee. Adjunct lecturer at the University of Toronto Faculty of Law, where he oversees participation in the Harold G. Fox Intellectual Property Moot.
