About the Author
Eric V. Gottardi is a partner at Peck and Company, a criminal litigation boutique in Vancouver, British Columbia. He has appeared as counsel in all levels of court in British Columbia and in the Supreme Court of Canada. He was called to the Bar in Ontario as a special prosecutor (L2) in 2010.
Earlier in his career, Eric clerked at the Court of Appeal for Ontario. After being called to the bar in British Columbia, he joined the firm of Peck and Company, where he soon focused on Criminal Defence work, at the trial and appellate level. He has also represented a number of clients in extradition matters, including at the Supreme Court of Canada.
Casey L. Leggett is a member in good standing of the Barreau du Québec and of the Law Society of British Columbia. His practice at Martin + Associates, Barristers, in Vancouver, B.C. focuses on criminal defence (with an emphasis on white collar crime, including extradition) and the Charter of Rights and Freedoms, as well as civil litigation in matters that straddle criminal law. He has represented clients before a variety of courts and tribunals, including the Supreme Court of Canada, the Federal Court of Canada, the B.C. Court of Appeal, B.C. Supreme Court, the Québec Superior Court and the B.C. Human Rights Tribunal. Prior to joining Martin + Associates, Mr. Leggett practiced at Borden Ladner Gervais LLP in Vancouver and Norton Rose Fulbright (formerly Ogilvy Renault) in Montreal. He obtained his B.A. in political studies at Queen's and took law at McGill where he obtained degrees in both civil and common law. At McGill, he was a Director of the McGill Legal Information Clinic, and now sits on the boards of the Association des juristes d'expression française de la Colombie-Britannique and of the Fédération des associations de juristes d'expression française.
