Description
Good employee management is the same with or without a union involved. But employers need to know the rules - and their rights - in order to get the most out of an organized workforce. Table of Contents: The Workplace Players – The Boundaries of Human Resources Management – Good Human Resources Management at Work – Creating Framework – Communicating Expectations – Enforcing Standards – Encouraging Suggestions & Complaints: Grievances and Arbitrations – Renewal and Change – Index. In this newly revised and updated edition, veteran labour lawyer, Jamie Knight, LL.B., demonstrates how unionized firms can manage their employee relations and operate just as effectively as non-union firms. The key is to understand both the terms of the collective agreement and the nature and application of management rights. By being pro-active in this regard, and not waiting for the union to initiate action under the agreement, HR managers can achieve superior results on behalf of their organization.
