About the Author
James A. D'Andrea, Q.C., B.A., M.A., L.L.B., is a senior partner in the litigation department of Bennett Jones LLP and is a past head of the firm's Employment Services Practice Group. Mr. D'Andrea has particular experience in labour and employment matters and arbitration, human rights issues, compensation matters, occupational health and safety matters, pensions and commercial litigation. He has appeared before the Alberta Court of Queen's Bench, Alberta Court of Appeal, Tax Court of Canada, Federal Court of Canada, Federal Court of Appeal, Alberta Labour Relations Board, Alberta Public Service Employee Relations Board, Alberta Human Rights Commission, Appeals Commission for Alberta Workers' Compensation, Alberta Safety Codes Council, Calgary Development Board, Alberta Racing Commission and Canadian International Trade Tribunal. He has also acted as an adjudicator appointed by the federal governmentunder the Canada Labour Code.

In addition to running his practice, Mr. D'Andrea has presented at a number of seminars on various employment matters and is the author of Employee Obligations in Canada and Illness and Disability in the Workplace: How to Navigate Through the Legal Minefield (Canada Law Book).He was also co-autor of the Annotated Alberta Labour Relations Code: Practitioner's Manual, published by the Legal Education Society of Alberta. Mr. D'Andrea is a member of the Canadian Bar Association, the Calgary Bar Association and the Law Society of Alberta. He is also a past director of a number of charitable and political organizations.
