About the Author
Julie Abouchar, B.Sc., LL.B., LL.M., is a partner at Willms & Shier Environmental Lawyers LLP and a Law Society Certified Specialist in Environmental Law. She has particular experience with environmental law issues including water protection, contaminated land, environmental assessment, environmental risk analysis, transactional due diligence and compliance. Julie has a substantial Aboriginal law practice, negotiating and drafting resource agreements for industry and Aboriginal clients, advising on Aboriginal consultation and facilitating dispute resolution in the mining, infrastructure and energy sectors.
Theresa McClenaghan, LL.B., LL.M., is the Executive Director of and Counsel to the Canadian Environmental Law Association. Theresa appeared on behalf of the Concerned Citizens of Walkerton and played an active role throughout the Walkerton Inquiry. In addition, amongst many other responsibilities, Theresa oversaw the passage of the Ontario Clean Water Act and implementation of the remaining Walkerton Inquiry recommendations. Theresa's expertise in environmental law includes water law and policy, environmental health, energy law and constitutional law.
