About the Author
James T. Casey, B. Comm., LL.B., Q.C has been the managing partner for Field Law since 2008. He previously served as leader of the firm's Labour and Employment Group and founded its Professional Regulatory Group. His primary areas of legal practice are professional regulation, acting as a Chairperson for labour arbitration boards, and administrative law. Mr. Casey has appeared before the Supreme Court of Canada, all levels of courts in Alberta and numerous administrative tribunals. He acts for many professional organizations providing advice in all areas of professional regulation including discipline, legislation, registration, mobility, policy and governance. He has taught at the University of Alberta and is a frequent speaker and author of publications including the leading text in Canada on professional regulation, The Regulation of Professions in Canada and A Guide to the Health Professions Act. He is also the editor of the text Remedies in Labour, Employment, and Human Rights Law.
