About the Author
Archie Rabinowitz is a member of the Litigation and Dispute Resolution Group of Dentons' Toronto office. His practice focuses on estates and trusts law and he draws upon a breadth of trial and appellate experience in fiduciary litigation to represent trust companies, government agencies and individuals in matters involving contested passing of accounts, the validity of wills, estate claims, breach of trust actions, undue influence claims, interpretation of wills, and the appointment or removal of trustees or guardians. He also deals with the Canada Revenue Agency (CRA) in matters involving voluntary disclosures under the Income Tax Act and rectification/repairs to defective wills and trusts. Mr. Rabinowitz is the recipient of the 2014 Ontario Bar Association's Award of Excellence in Trusts and Estates, and in 2008, Archie received the Ontario Bar Association's Widdifield Award
Risa Awerbuck, B.A., LL.B., concentrates her practice on the preparation of wills, powers of attorney for personal care and property, estate planning and administration, and is a member of the Ontario Bar. She has advised clients on estate planning issues, including the provisions of the Family Law Act, methods of effectively reducing probate fees, the imposition of income tax and capital gains on death, transferring and gifting of assets and the consequences that may arise therefrom, and the various uses of trusts. Ms. Awerbuck is co-author of The Practical Guide to Ontario Estate Administration, 4th Edition.
