About the Author
Christopher A. W. Bentley is the executive director of the Law Practice Program (LPP) at Ryerson University. He was called to the Bar in 1981 and practised criminal law at both the trial and appellate level. He received his Diploma in Legal Studies from Cambridge University, England in 1985. Mr. Bentley has taught at the University of Western Ontario Law School and has lectured at various Judges' conferences, at the Bar Admission Course, at Continuing Legal Education courses, at the Ontario Police College and to the RCMP. He is a former Director of the Criminal Lawyer's Association and is past-President of the Criminal Lawyer's Association of London. Mr. Bentley served for almost 10 years as the Member of Provincial Parliament for London West.
John McNair received his law degree from the University of Western Ontario in 1980 and a Masters degree from the London School of Economics (U.K.) in 1982. His primary areas of practice include litigation and alternative dispute resolution, focusing on commercial litigation and labour/employment matters. Mr. McNair is an Arbitrator-Member of the Arbitration & Mediation Institute of Ontario and was appointed a member of the Ontario Consent & Capacity Board in 1998. He is co-author of Williams and Rhodes' Canadian Law of Landlord and Tenant, 6th Edition.
Mavis J. Butkus received her law degree from the University of Western Ontario in 1982. Considered a legal expert in the area of landlord and tenant law, Ms. Butkus edits Williams’ & Rhodes Canadian Law of Landlord and Tenant and is the author of The Annotated Ontario Landlord and Tenant Statutes. She is a partner at McKenzie Lake LLP in London, Ontario.
